Phillips had a solid freshman year as the backup at second base. She batted .417 with four runs scored, four RBI's, and a .417 on base percentage. This fall she showed a good eye at the plate with eight walks in 25 at bats, which helped her to a .360 on base percentage. Phillips is a very good defensive player and will compete for the starting position at second base. Her playing time will increase from last year and she could be used as a late-inning defensive sub when not starting.
