Volleyball Staff
Lady Tiger head coach Jenifer Bahner had a first season to remember as she helped guide Cowley to conference and region titles, a 19-match win streak, and a runner-up national finish at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. Bahner was named the District M Coach of the Year after Cowley finished the season with a record of 32-5 and had the highest winning percentage (86.5%) in the program’s history. Bahner came to Cowley with an impressive background in volleyball as a player and coach. Prior to coming to Cowley, she spent two seasons as assistant coach at Pittsburg State, where she helped lead the Lady Gorillas to their two best seasons in school-history. PSU was ranked in the top-25 each of the past two seasons and made consecutive appearances at the NCAA Division II National Tournament. Along with coaching at Pittsburg State, Bahner has coached the Kansas City Power volleyball club team for the past seven years. During the 2007 club season, she coached the team to a fifth place finish at the Junior National Olympics. Bahner is not far removed from her playing days, as she was the starting varsity setter at Bishop Miege High School from 2000-2003. She went on to a stellar career at Baker University from 2004-2007. At Baker, she was named Heart of America Conference Freshman of the Year in 2004, and was named the conference’s Setter of the Week 12 times. She was named an NAIA All-Region performer and NAIA Volleyball Scholar Athlete in 2006. She also served as the Baker volleyball team captain during the 2004, 2005, and 2006 seasons. She was also an excellent student. She graduated Cum Laude from Baker University and went on to obtain a Masters of Science degree from Pittsburg State University.
