DeGrado named NJCAA Women’s Track National Assistant
Coach of the Year

Having helped the Cowley College women’s outdoor track and field team
capture conference and region titles, as well as a fifth place finish at
the national meet, Vince DeGrado was recently named the NJCAA Women’s
Track National Assistant Coach of the Year.
DeGrado, who coaches the Tigers’ middle distance and distance runners,
coached seven conference champions, six NJCAA All-Americans, and five region
champions during the outdoor season.
DeGrado was selected by head coaches at the NJCAA Division I level.
“It’s humbling to get an award like this but in the end the only
thing that matters really to me is that my runners are getting faster and are
succeeding, because that's the most satisfying to me,” DeGrado said.
As head coach of the Tiger cross country teams, DeGrado was previously named
the Region VI Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year as he guided
the Lady Tigers to their first ever region title in 2009.
Cowley head track and field coach Mark Phillips was happy to see DeGrado
named the NJCAA Women’s Track National Assistant Coach of the Year.
“He is very well deserving and does a great job with our middle distance
and distance runners,” Phillips said. “The ladies he is in charge
of had an incredible year and were a big part of our national meet. I look
for even bigger things to come.”
