Tiger baseball team to resume Region VI tourney game on Wednesday

Riding out a three-hour weather delay Tuesday night in the Region VI Tournament played at Kansas State University's Tointon Family Stadium, the top-seeded Cowley College baseball team resumed play trailing eighth-seeded Butler Community College 7-6 entering the bottom of the eighth inning. Once play resumed, Jansen Reeder walked, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Conner Gore, and came around to score the tying run on a single by sophomore David Herring, who took third on the play after a two-base error by the Grizzlies' leftfielder.

The game was halted again with Herring at third and one out in a tie game of 7-7 in the bottom of the eighth inning. The teams will resume the game tomorrow morning, following the conclusion of the 8 a.m. contest already on the schedule.        

On Tuesday, Cowley trailed by scores of 2-0, 4-3, and 7-4 before a solo home run by Bryce Madron in the bottom of the sixth inning and an RBI double by Haden O'Toole in the seventh pulled the Tigers within 7-6.

After Cowley starting pitcher Grant Adler allowed four runs in four innings, reliever Aaron Weber surrendered three runs in the top of the sixth. Sophomore Miguel Fulgencio, who has been nearly untouchable this season, came on in relief of Weber with nobody out in the sixth inning and kept the game within reach by tossing three scoreless innings.

Braxton Hyde started on the mound for Butler and allowed 12 hits and five runs in 5 2/3 innings pitched.
