Former Tiger Robbie Rea named the head coach at UCO
Robbie Rea, an All-American baseball player at Cowley College in 2011, was recently named the head baseball coach at the University of Central Oklahoma.
Rea has spent three seasons at Central Oklahoma guiding the pitching staff. The Bronchos have won 105 games since Rea joined the staff and qualified for the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship in each of the past two seasons.
Overseeing the pitching staff, Rea has coached nine All-MIAA selections, two All-Region selections, and two All-Americans. Former Broncho Valek Cisneros was an All-American for the Bronchos, setting the UCO and MIAA record for career saves with 31 during his three-year career under Rea's guidance.
Central Oklahoma has ranked in the top three in the MIAA in staff ERA each of the past three seasons with Rea at the helm.
Before UCO, Rea made stops at MIAA schools Newman and Northeastern State. He also spent time coaching at Cowley and Abiline Christian in Texas, coaching at multiple levels in the region, and developing his skills and the network he utilizes for recruiting at UCO.
Rea, a third baseman and closer for the Tiger baseball team, was named a third-team All-American infielder as a sophomore. The Topeka native led Cowley in batting (.398), hits (86), home runs (eight), doubles (14), and RBI's (66). He helped the Tigers to a record of 43-15 overall and 30-6 in the Jayhawk East as the Tigers won the conference title.
He went on to earn All-Big XII honors as a second baseman for the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Robbie will be reunited with his brother, Butch Rea, another former Tiger baseball player and assistant coach, who joined the University of Central Oklahoma baseball coaching staff in August 2024 and serves as the hitting coach for the Bronchos.
Butch spent three years as an assistant coach at Cowley College. During those three seasons, the Tigers posted a 140-43 record and took two trips to the JUCO World Series, where they finished fifth and runner-up.
