Thompson, Knoll named KJCCC Men’s Basketball Players of the Week
Leading their teams to wins and positioning their squads for potential home playoff games next week, Cowley College guard Kyden Thompson and Highland Community College’s Colton Knoll have been named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Men’s Basketball Players of the Week.
Kyden Thompson - Cowley (KJCCC Division 1 Men's Basketball Player of the Week)
Thompson averaged 24.5 points and 6.5 assists per game last week as Cowley split games with Garden City and No. 16-ranked Butler Community College. Shooting 68.0 percent from the floor, Thompson also averaged 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per contest to stuff the stat sheet against the Broncbusters and Grizzlies. For the season, Thompson ranks third in the KJCCC in total assists (129) and is fourth in the league in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.2).
Colton Knoll – Highland (KJCCC Division 2 Men's Basketball Player of the Week)
Colton Knoll delivered another big week for Highland by leading the Scotties to two wins and putting HCC in position to potentially host a first-round playoff game in the upcoming NJCAA Region 6 Plains District tournament. The freshman was a defensive spark in Highland's 72-57 win over Labette, before turning in his ninth double-double of the season by scoring 26 points and grabbing 14 rebounds to lead the Scotties to a crucial victory over Fort Scott on Saturday to help Highland improve to 18-10 overall this season.
