Syrio signs to play soccer at the University of Memphis
After a stellar two-year career as a member of the Cowley College men’s soccer team, sophomore Renan Syrio will take his talents to the NCAA Division 1 level as he recently signed a letter of intent with the University of Memphis.
Syrio made an immediate impact on the Tiger soccer team as a freshman, scoring six goals to go along with two assists as he helped Cowley capture conference and district titles and advance to the national championship game before losing.
Syrio took his game to another level as a sophomore, as he was named a First Team all-conference performer while scoring 12 goals and adding five assists. His solid play helped the Tigers win another conference and district title and advance to the semifinals of the national tournament.
Cowley went 32-4-5 in Syrio's two years at the school.
"Renan was an outstanding player for us, scoring goals and leading by example both on and off the field," Cowley head coach Marcos Ribeiro said. "Memphis is lucky to have him, and I am confident he will do great from day one and make a strong impact at the NCAA D1 level."
