With the Cowley College men's and women's tennis programs having captured national championships in the past two seasons, new head coach Marcel Miasato will look to continue the programs' winning ways.
Miasato takes over for Arianna Raga, who recently left the school to pursue other opportunities.
Growing up in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Miasato had the opportunity to play in several international tournaments in South America.
He started his collegiate career at Barton Community College, where he played for two years (2015-2018). He then transferred to NCAA Division II Newman University (2018-2020), where the Jets reached the Heartland Conference Finals in 2018.
Miasato graduated from Newman with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration before becoming a volunteer assistant coach at the school from 2021-2023. He also served as the director of juniors at Genesis Health Clubs in 2022 and 2023, where he developed multiple players that ended up playing at the NCAA Division 1 and Division II levels.
"Being named the new tennis coach at Cowley College is an incredible honor and responsibility," Miasato said. "Cowley has a strong tradition in tennis, and I hope I can continue the great work that Manuel (Raga) and Arianna (Raga) were doing. I am eager to contribute to the continued success of the tennis program and look forward to working with the players, helping them to develop both as players and individuals."
