Tiger men’s tennis team has an up-and-down results on first day of region tourney

Opening play at the Region VI/Jayhawk Conference Tennis Championships in Pratt, KS, on Wednesday, the No. 4-ranked Cowley College men's tennis team advanced four singles players and a doubles team to the region finals.

Cowley's No. 3 doubles team of Pedro De La Riva and David De Hoyos Rodriguez was the lone Tiger doubles team to win on Wednesday, while other wins came from Cowley's No. 2, 3, 4, and 6 singles players.

The tournament will conclude on Thursday.

*No. 1 – Juwan Bae/Dan Hosono (CC) lost to Artwi/Yakubu-Lea (Seward) 4-6, 6-3, 3-6.

*No. 2 – Valentin Greco/Felipe Garla (CC) lost to Kawada/RabinadVila (Pratt) 3-6, 6-7 (6).

*No. 3 – Pedro De La Riva/David De Hoyos Rodriguez (CC) defeated Tshivhase/Golobart (Pratt) 6-2, 6-2.

SINGLES 

*No. 1 – Garla (CC) lost to Garay (Barton) 2-6, 4-6.

*No. 2 – De La Riva (CC) defeated Blinov (Pratt) 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

*No. 3 – Greco (CC) defeated Yakubu-Lea (Seward) 6-1, 7-5.

*No. 4 – Hosono (CC) defeated Roseler Caballero (Seward) 6-3, 6-3.

*No. 5 – De Hoyo Rodriguez (CC) lost to Naude (Barton) 3-6, 5-7.

*No. 6 – Juwan Bae (CC) defeated Gajic (Seward) 6-1, 6-0.
