Cowley advances tennis players to ITA Cup
Hosting the ITA Regional Tournament, the Cowley College men’s and women’s tennis teams had some solid performances while advancing a men’s singles player and a women’s doubles team to compete at the ITA Cup in Rome, GA.
"It was an awesome weekend for us," Cowley head coach Marcel Miasato said.
On the men's side, Tiger freshman Haruki Okude had a great tournament and did not drop a set.
"I am excited to see him playing nationals in Georgia," Miasato said.
On the women's side, it was an all-Cowley doubles final with Naghely Garcia and Cynthia Wanjala teaming to defeat Chiho Takada and Lisa Takamura 6-4, 6-3 to advance to Georgia.
"Everyone stepped up on the women's side, and I am excited for what's ahead," Miasato said.
The ITA Cup, formerly the Small College Nationals, will be held October 16-19 in Rome, GA.
