Tiger tennis team opens season at No. 8-ranked Washburn University
The Cowley College men’s tennis team opened the 2026 spring tennis season by competing at NCAA Division II Washburn University on Sunday in Topeka, KS. The Tigers found wins hard to come by against the No. 8-ranked Ichabods, but did some good things in the 9-0 loss.
Cowley sophomore Dan Hosono won the opening set at No. 2 singles before losing in three sets. The Tigers' No. 2 doubles team of Luca Laurindo and Gustavo Tedesco dos Santos also battled hard before losing 7-6.
"On paper, Washburn was a lot better than us, but we had many close matches," Cowley head coach Marcel Miasato said.
The Tiger tennis team will have a chance to showcase its squad in front of their home fans when they host Midwestern State University (TX) on Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Ark City High School tennis courts.
"I am excited to see how we play at home," Miasato said.
