Cowley College men’s tennis team drops match at Northwest Missouri State
Traveling to Maryville, MO, on Monday to face its sixth straight NCAA Division II opponent, Northwest Missouri State University, the Cowley College men’s tennis team played better than the scores reflect in a 7-0 loss to the Bearcats.
Cowley nearly won the doubles point, getting a win from its No. 1 doubles team of Haruki Okude and Dan Hosono and having its No. 2 doubles team of Luca Laurindo and Wojciech Biela battle hard before losing in a tiebreaker.
Hosono and Biela also played well in singles action, taking their matches at No. 2 and 4 singles to three sets before losing.
"The boys played really well and were really close to winning the doubles point," Cowley head coach Marcel Miasato said. "Overall, we had a lot of close matches against them."
The Tiger tennis teams are back in action today when they play at Bethel College at 3 p.m. in Newton, KS.
