Vann, Tennant named softball All-Americans
The honors continue to roll in for Cowley College softball players Mikah Vann and Taverli Tennant, who were recently named NJCAA Division II All-Americans.
"I am beyond excited for Mikah and Taverli on the announcement of this honor," Cowley head coach Jenny Hoyt said. "They both were a huge piece to our success this year, and I am beyond thankful they got acknowledged for their performance."
Vann, the conference's Most Valuable Player and Pitcher of the Year, was named a Second Team All-American. The left-hander went 22-7 with a 2.19 earned run average. She struck out 186 batters in 176 innings pitched.
"I am happy Mikah was able to leave this program with that honor to her name. She was a leader for us in so many ways, and I am excited to see her name now on that All-American board," Hoyt said.
Tennant, the conference's Newcomer of the Year, was named a Third Team All-American. She led the Lady Tigers in nearly every offensive category by batting .471 with 16 home runs and 76 runs batted in. She added 24 doubles, five triples, and 18 stolen bases.
"I am proud of Taverli and her growth over the year," Hoyt said. "She came into our program with a lot of uncertainty, and this award just shows what she is capable of doing."
