Forcing its opponent into 40 turnovers for the second time in four games, the Cowley College women's basketball team blew past the Bethany College JV 100-42 on Saturday inside W.S. Scott Auditorium.
The Lady Tigers are 4-0 to start the season and are winning by an average of 45 points per game.
On Saturday, Cowley led 25-8 after the first quarter and increased its lead to 55-10 after out-scoring the Bethany JV 30-2 in the second quarter.
Sophomore Hattie Pyle scored 11 first-half points, and all 10 Lady Tigers who saw action scored.
Cowley forced the Swedes into 26 first-half turnovers that they converted into 31 points.
The Lady Tigers' lead would grow to 83-22 after three-quarters of play, and Cowley would lead by as many as 63 points in the 100-42 win.
"We were really active and did a nice job defensively," Cowley head coach Todd Clark said.
Leading the defensive charge was freshman Elysa Martinez, who, along with her 12 points and nine assists, added seven steals.
"Elysa gives a great effort and has been a nice addition for us," Clark said.
Pyle finished with 16 points to lead six Lady Tigers in double figures. Cowley got 46 points from its bench and all 12 players who played scored at least three points in the win.
"These early games have allowed us to develop our bench," Clark said. "I hope our bench production continues to improve as the season goes along."
Bethany's Zada Pearson (14 points) and Taylor Jones (12 points) combined for 26 points but also combined for 24 turnovers.
After opening the season with four home games, Cowley will encounter its first road test at Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Tigers defeated NOC-Tonkawa 88-62 on November 6.
"It will be a challenge facing NOC-Tonkawa for the second time in a week," Clark said. "We will have our hands full playing at their place, so we will need to be ready to compete."
