On Wednesday, Cowley led just 14-11 after one quarter of play before the Tigers' offense started to come to life. Cowley out-scored Independence 22-10 in the second quarter to take a 36-21 halftime lead.
Freshman Rafa Bergonso went on to score 10 third-quarter points, and Keturah Stewart scored 10 points in the fourth as Cowley went on to the 54-point win.
Stewart and Bergonso finished with 14 points apiece, and the Lady Tigers had six players who scored in double figures.
Jassie Manning led Independence with 14 points but also committed nine of the Lady Pirates' 28 turnovers.
Cowley held Independence to 21 percent shooting as the Lady Pirates (1-11) remained winless in the conference with a record of 0-6. Cowley improves to 9-3 overall and 4-3 in the Jayhawk Conference.
The Lady Tigers will wrap up the first semester by playing at Coffeyville (9-2) on Saturday at 2.
