Lady Tiger soccer team battles No. 20-ranked Garden City to a scoreless tie
Despite controlling its road contest at No. 20-ranked Garden City on Saturday, the No. 8-ranked Cowley College women’s soccer team battled the Broncbusters to a scoreless draw.
Cowley outshot Garden City 18-1, but could not find the back of the net as the Broncbusters packed it in on the back half of the field. Garden City goalkeeper Isabelle Barsk stopped all nine shots the Lady Tigers placed on goal, while Lady Tiger goalkeeper Julia Suelly did not face a shot on goal while recording her third straight shutout.
"The girls stuck with our plan; unfortunately, we could not put the ball in the net," Cowley head coach Roberto dos Santos said. "It was frustrating not to score, but defensively we did well."
Cowley (3-0-2) remains atop the Jayhawk Conference standings with a record of 3-0-1, while Garden City (7-1-2) is second in the conference with a record of 2-1-1.
The Lady Tigers will return home to play Barton County on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. Barton, winners of three games in a row, is 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
"Barton is a good team and is playing well," dos Santos said. "We have got to be ready for them to come in here and try to pull the upset."
