Gray named Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for a third time
Setting a new personal best in the shot put, Cowley College sophomore Cierra Gray was named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this season.
Setting a new personal best in the shot put, Cowley College sophomore Cierra Gray was named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this season.
Competing at the Northwest Missouri Bearcat Invitational, Gray recorded a mark of 14.24 meters (46' 8.75"), which ranks second all-time in Cowley history and is the fifth-best mark in the NJCAA this season.
Colby's Anita Afrifa received the KJCCC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week award. Afrifa had a standout performance at the Steve Miller Invitational, winning the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.30 seconds and dominating the 200 meters with a time of 23.26 seconds. Her 200-meter time is now the second-fastest ever in NJCAA history, while her 60-meter time was the third-fastest in NJCAA history and .01 off her personal best time. The sophomore also broke the Ghanaian national record in the 200 meters and set a new Colby school record, beating her previous best.
