Pole vault clinic at Cowley College offered on June 9-12
The Cowley College track and field coaching staff is preparing to conduct a pole vault clinic on June 9-12 at the Mark A Phillips Track and Field Complex located at 230 Pierce St., just East of the Cowley baseball stadium.
The pole vault clinic is designed to help beginning and experienced vaulters learn to vault safely and correctly using technique drills and routines. Participants will be taught proper pole carry, run mechanics, plant timing, take-off, and bar clearance. There will be an emphasis on approach, plant, and take-off. Pole selection and proper training will be discussed. Video analysis will be used to help participants learn.
In his five years as vault coach at Cowley, Parker Ray has coached 21 junior college All-Americans, one national champion, and one national record holder, including 2022 national indoor champion Arantxa Cortez. Coach Ray has been involved with the pole vault for 10 years.

The registration cost of the clinic is $200 for day campers and $380 for overnight campers. For those not pre-registered, registration will also be available at the Mark A Phillips Track and Field Complex on June 9 between 5 and 6:15 p.m. Pre-registration is encouraged.
