Lady Tigers inch closer to conference lead with run-rule wins at Coffeyville
The Cowley College softball team continued to batter opponents as they moved within one game of first place in the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division. The Lady Tigers run-ruled Coffeyville 11-1 and 10-0 on the road on Thursday and have out-scored the opposition 52-3 during its four-game winning streak.

With Thursday's victories, Cowley (27-11) moves within one game of first place Neosho County (10-0) as the Lady Tigers and Kansas City are tied for second in the Jayhawk East with a record of 9-1.
In game one, sophomore Raelynn Sandlin led Cowley's 13-hit attack by going 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored. Gracy Smith, Ezra Arredondo, Alissa Nuno, and Bre Curry added two runs batted in apiece.
Sophomore Mikah Vann improved her record to 15-4 by allowing only one unearned run in six innings pitched. The left-hander struck out six and walked none.
In game two, freshman Taverli Tennant went 3-for-3 with her 10th home run of the season and four runs batted in. Tennant is now batting .504 with 61 runs batted in.
Arredondo (10-3) tossed four scoreless innings and helped her cause at the plate by going 3-for-3 to raise her batting average to .367.
Madison Baker pitched a scoreless fifth inning to finish off game two.
Cowley out-hit Coffeyville 25-7 in the doubleheader.
"I felt we did a great job of challenging their defense and put a lot of hard balls in play to create pressure for them," Cowley head coach Jenny Hoyt said. "Kanon (Goji) and Paige (Scanlin) have done a great job of setting the tone at the top half of our lineup to allow Taverli and Yaya (Krisyana Pellet) to continue to be run producers for us."
After going 5-1 on their six-game road trip, the Lady Tigers will return home to play a doubleheader against Highland on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Lady Tigers will honor the sophomores on the roster in between games.
