Coach’s Comments: "Sydney is an athletic and intelligent DS/Libero who brings us a strong defensive presense on the court. She has a great ability to read the serve and the attack of our opponents and use her athleticism to be in the right place at the right time. She is quick to the ball, has great hands, and has the ability to make a tough play look easy with her excellent ball control. On top of her passing and defensive abilities, Sydney has an excellent serve that is a great addition to the deep serving arsenal of our program."
2021 (Freshmen): Played in 129 sets...recorded 238 digs at 1.38 digs per set, 21 assists, and 44 service aces.
Before Cowley: Prepped at Great Bend High School where she played four seasons on the varsity team. In her senior year, Unruh led her team to a to a 20-11 season, qualified for the Class 5A quarterfinal round of the state tournament (finishing eighth in the state tournament), Kansas Sub-State Champions, and took second in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) championship round-robin. For her efforts she was named WAC Player of the Year, placed on the Under Armour Watch List, and was an All-WAC first-team selection with her recording a 2.78 passer rating while compiling 514 digs at 6.9 digs per set and 62 assists. In her junior year, Unruh led her team to a 28-7 season and took second in the WAC championship. For her efforts, she was named Nex-Tech Wireless Student Athlete of the Month and she was an All-WAC first-team selection with her recording 447 digs at 5.5 digs per set and 20 assists. In her sophomore year, Unruh led her team to a to a 17-16 season. For her efforts, she was named All-WAC second team with her recording 395 digs at 5.2 digs per set. In her four-year career, she had 1,600 digs at 5.3 digs per set, 1,700 serves passed, 91 assists and had 46 aces with a .906 serving percentage.

Following two successful seasons as a member of the Cowley College volleyball program, Lady Tiger sophomore Sydney Unruh parlayed that success into signing a letter of intent with NCAA Division II Missouri Southern State University.
Leading the conference in assists, Cowley College setter Vivianna Solis was recently named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Eastern Division Freshman of the Year, Setter of the Year, and Most Valuable Player. The Lady Tigers ended up with seven players named All-Conference and All-Region.

Traveling to Siloam Springs, AR, on Friday, the No. 2-ranked Cowley College volleyball team remained unbeaten with wins over John Brown University JV (25-14, 25-14, 25-14) and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (25-8, 25-9, 25-16).
Winners of 25 straight sets to open the season, the No. 2-ranked Cowley College volleyball team suffered its first loss of a set in its match at Allen Community College Wednesday in Iola. However, the Lady Tigers responded with a vengeance in winning the match by a score of 25-17, 19-25, 25-9, 25-11.
The No. 2-ranked Cowley College volleyball team showed they will be a tough team to defend as they used a balanced team effort to easily defeat the Southwestern College JV and the Seminole State College Trojans.
